Description

Archaeological Testing of the Citrus Cove Development, Queen Creek, Maricopa County, Arizona (TR2002-13) (PDF)

Desert Archaeology’s fieldwork in the Citrus Cove Development parcel identified five archaeological features. This concentration of cultural remains represents the western extent of Pozos de Sonoqui (AZ U:14:49 [ASM]), a large Hohokam village. Results of the testing effort indicate the distribution of buried cultural remains generally corresponds with a surface artifact concentration and suggests subsurface cultural resources are largely confined to the extreme northeastern portion of the project area. Some form of treatment is recommended to mitigate the impact of proposed development on the archaeological resources in the project area.
