The park is located on a portion of the grounds of the old U.S. Army Quartermaster Depot (QMD) established in 1864, on a bluff above the Colorado River. The QMD served as a storage yard and a military supply center for fourteen military posts in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Southern Utah, and West Texas. It maintained a six months’ supply of ammunition, clothing, and food at all times. (From an essay by Charles R. Eatherly at the park web page)
The park includes a visitor center and museum, and picnic facilities. Visitors can see the Quartermaster’s Office, the Commanding Officers’ Quarters, the Storehouse, and Corral House.
