Fort Bowie commemorates the bitter, decades-long conflict between the Chiricahua Apaches and the U.S. military in the late 1800s. From the parking lot, it is a 3-mile roundtrip hike to the visitor center and fort. Along the way, visitors pass the site of the Bascom Affair, the site of the Battle of Apache Pass, and Apache Springs.
