The recent publication of “Santa Fe Underground,” the Spring/Summer issue of Archaeology Southwest Magazine, offers an opportunity to celebrate archaeology in the City Different, as well as Santa Fe residents’ commitment to protecting the rich evidence of their city’s past.
Leading Santa Fe archaeologists Cherie Scheick and Stephen Post guest-edited this special issue of Archaeology Southwest Magazine, an ad-free, full-color quarterly that shares archaeological research in the Southwest with the interested public. In this issue, various guest authors review findings from recent archaeological investigations ranging from the earliest hunting and gathering peoples up into the Statehood era.
Collected Works Bookstore, the City of Santa Fe, and the private nonprofit Archaeology Southwest are hosting a celebration of the magazine’s release at 6:00 p.m. on November 11, 2015. “Santa Fe Underground” will be available for purchase from Collected Works. Santa Fe Mayor Javier Gonzales and issue editors Cherie Scheick and Stephen Post will give brief presentations, followed by an open, informal discussion of Santa Fe archaeology with the audience.
