Archaeological Monitoring in the Barrio Libre, Tucson, Arizona (TR1996-9)
Gas line replacement through the historic Mexican-American Barrio Libre district led to the discovery of numerous trash deposits dating from the 1880s onward. City ordinances directed citizens to dump trash in barrio arroyos beginning in the 1870s. The findings suggest that historic resources are present throughout the Barrio Libre.
