total of 120 archaeological features was identified at this locus of the Julian Wash site. Of these, 48 were identified as being prehistoric and 69 as dating to the Historic era; the date of three features was not determined. A sample of 32 features (27 percent) were partially or completely excavated. Of these, 22 dated to the prehistoric period (46 percent of the total prehistoric features) and 10 to the Historic era (14 percent of the Historic era feature total). Prehistoric activities in the area pertained to mining caliche and trash deposition, and historic features related to fencing, plantings, and tire ruts associated with iv Compliance Summary the driveway for a historic orphanage. Precise alignment with a 1953 aerial photograph that showed the orphanage was achieved.
