Annual Members’ Gathering

Wach spring, Archaeology Southwest hosts a gathering for members and donors. We share news of our latest accomplishments, discuss our upcoming projects and programs, and highlight features from our upcoming Annual Report. Members and donors will also receive our Annual Report in the mail.

The 2017 Annual Members’ Gathering will be held at Steam Pump Ranch (map) on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Join us at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast and various Hands-On Archaeology activities, and stay for the experimental burning of our replica pithouse at 10:00 a.m.

Many excavated examples of ancient pithouses show evidence that villagers deliberately burned them. This makes us wonder, how did they set fire to a structure and control the burning? (Did they?) What happens after a structure like this burns and sits exposed…and ultimately becomes archaeological? Join us while we seek answers to these questions and more!

To RSVP, contact Kathleen by email or phone at (520) 882-6946 x26.

This event is for members only. Not yet a member? Join today and help us explore and protect the places of our past.

Past Annual Reports are available for download.
