Kate Sarther Gann, Communications Coordinator
Let’s call it destiny: my earliest archaeological memories are of Kampsville, the Treasures of Tutankhamun at the Field Museum, and the Egyptian gallery at the Oriental Institute Museum—all before the age of six! The past has held my attention ever since. That passion to know more about people and their lives in many times and places got me through quite a few all-nighters as I earned my bachelor’s degree at the University of Chicago and master’s degree in Anthropology at the University of Arizona.
Before coming to Archaeology Southwest in 2007, I had the honor of helping to care for some of the finest archaeological collections in the world, including those at the Oriental Institute and the Arizona State Museum. While working at those institutions, I participated in exhibit writing and learned more about interpreting the past for general audiences.
As Archaeology Southwest’s Communications Coordinator, I strive to convey information about the past in ways that connect researchers and the interested public. As we all learn more, our commitment to preserving and protecting evidence of our shared human heritage deepens.
