Of Time and the River: An Aerial Journey Down the Rio Grande

Adriel Heisey photographed the Rio Grande from his homebuilt airplane over a span of ten years, flying every mile of the Great River from its beginnings on the Continental Divide in Colorado to its end at the southern tip of Texas in the Gulf of Mexico. This multimedia program features photographs that his efforts produced, including many that do not appear in his new book, The Rio Grande: An Eagle’s View, and have never been seen by the public. Adriel will give special attention to traces of human presence that are evident from the air along and near the river, offering an unusual and fascinating journey through landscape, time, and human history.
