Site Summary: Constructed in 1865, Fort Verde was originally called Camp Lincon. As the primary base for General George Crook, the fort played a central role in the Indian wars in the Arizona Territorial Period. The fort was decomissioned in 1890.
The park has preserved the Officer’s, and other, quarters that serve as museum spaces, interpreting military life of the 1880s.
